This is a refresher short to renew your Medication Competency certification that requires renewal every 12 months. This course is delivered by a Registered Nurse.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide medication assistance and complete medication documentation. It also involves supporting a client to self-administer medication.
This course covers the basics of administering medications, providing care workers with the skills and knowledge required to assist in the administration of prescribed medications from a dose administration aid, such as a Webster Pack, Nebuliser, Spiriva and handy haler.
Our Medication competency course includes online theory components which need to be completed prior to the face-to-face practical. This is mandatory requirement and failure to complete the theory assessment will result in refused entry.
The training involves Practical demonstration, role-play activities, class discussions, case studies, and Observations that will allow candidates to acquire necessary knowledge and skills to assist in the distribution and administration of medical aid and medicines. Upon completion of this course, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Participation and will be classified as Medical Competent.
