ELICOS – Beginner/Elementary English

This course is designed for students who can understand and use familiar everyday expressions
and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of the needs of a concrete type. Students can
introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such
as where he/she lives, the people he/she knows and things he/she has. Who can interact in a
simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Some examples of Elementary skills include understanding a simple interview, guessing the
meaning of words and phrases, asking for opinions and writing a formal e-mail.

This course will be delivered and assessed via classroom delivery, listening, speaking, reading,
and written assessments.

After successfully completing this course, students will be at approximately IELTS 2.5-3.0 or
equivalent level. Successfully completing the Intermediate English course at The Bright
College will also allow students to progress to 117779K Pre-Intermediate English at The
Bright College.

IELTS of 5.0-6.0 or equivalent if packaging ELICOS with a VET course.
No minimum IELTS Requirement if only studying ELICOS
